2007 NYWG Color Guard Competition

Stewart Air Base

All members of New York Wing are invited to attend the Color Guard Competition as spectators. Hopefully it will be an inspiration for other groups Build Color guard and Drill Teams of their own.

For the Competition Teams and those interested in attending as spectators, please review information below.

Competition Information

Location: Stewart Air Base
Date: TBD
Time: 0900 hrs (0815 hrs for Staff, 0845 for Teams) to 1700 hrs (starts promptly, arrive early)
Roster:
An MSA for all members and spectators only the Senior Members and non-member adults is required to register their names in advance to the competition roster. Include SSN for spectators, and CAPID and SSN for CAP members. Each Group should prepare a consolidated list of Seniors and non-member adults who will attend the competition. Groups must email all names to Maj Samuels. ROSTERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE MSA BY 1200 hrs 22 MARCH 2007.

At the gate all members must present their CAP ID. Non-members should have a valid Drivers License or State issued ID.

Lunch:
Food will not be provided
All Teams and spectators should bring their own lunch & water. Soda and snack machines are available, but that's it. Off base there are a number of food establishments in the area

COMPETITION TEAMS BRING THE FOLLOWING:
Uniforms in accordance with CAPM 52-4
Athletic Uniform (Long Sleeve shirt and Long Sweatpants are authorized for the Mile run)
All Competition accessories including Flags, Flagpoles, Flag stands and Flag for Outdoor Posting of the colors. None will be provided for the competition.
Pencil, eraser and paper
Dress for possible inclement weather
At this time there are no supplements to CAPM 52-4. Clarifications or updates will be mentioned during the team briefing

Security: When not in use the auditorium will be locked. Teams will be able to leave equipment there, however, I do not recommend leaving valuables.

Directions:
From the N.Y. State Thruway, take Exit 17, Newburgh exit. After toll booth stay to the left and follow sign for Stewart Airport. At the end of the ramp make a right. At the light go straight ahead (you will see Burger King on your right). At the second light make a left turn into Stewart ANGB. After passing the guard house continue straight. Take the first left and follow the road around to the right (Bldg 203 will be on your right). After passing Bldg 203 take the first right into the parking lot. You will see the base flagpole and directly across the street from this you will see Bldg 202. Enter Bldg 202 through the front doors and enter the auditorium.

From I-84, take Exit 7S (300/Union Ave) and continue to Rt. 17K (first large intersection). Be careful not to end up back on the Thruway entrance. At the intersection make a right onto Rt. 17K and continue straight (you will see Burger King on your right). At the second light make a left turn into Stewart ANGB. After passing the guard house continue straight. Take the first left and follow the road around to the right (Bldg 203 will be on your right). After passing Bldg 203 take the first right into the parking lot. You will see the base flagpole and directly across the street from this you will see Bldg 202. Enter Bldg 202 through the front doors and enter the auditorium.
