817 Stewart Avenue (Rear)
Garden City, NY 11530-4856
SUBJECT: 2003 NY Drill Competition Letters of Intent (LOI)
1. The wing cadet programs office invites groups to participate in
the 2003 National Cadet Competition by submitting a drill team. We
need an early start this year- this best ensures success at
competition. The wing team from NY last year started in September
and won the National Championship. This is possible for any group
in the wing!
2. Wing CP needs a letter from groups stating their intent to
participate in the 2003 New York Wing Drill Team competition by 15
October 2001. The LOI may be sent to LtCol Blair Biddle at
bcbiddle@aol.com or sent via mail to NYWG HQ/CP. The letter need
only state intention of participation.
3. A registration fee of $50, non-refundable, payable to NYWG,
is required. If the wing competition is cancelled, all monies will be
forwarded to pay for the region registration fee.
4. This memo applies to drill team only. This is NOT for color guard.
Letters of intent for color guard will be due early next year
sometime, and the color guard competition will take place at a
separate time from the drill competition.
5. Team rosters are to be mailed to the competition coordinator (TBD)
or LtCol Blair Biddle using the old CAPF 7 (available for download at
http://www.nywgcadets.org/docs/old_capf7.dot
6. The wing competition will be held in the Albany area (probably
Division of Naval Affairs) as a 1-day event tentatively on 14 Dec 02.
Groups are permitted to combine to form a team (ex: LIG and NYC
forming a team, for example), but both group CC’s must state this
in writing.
7. Groups interested in forming a team but are unsure how to go
about it, download the Drill Team Promo Flyer from
http://www.nywgcadets.org/dt/ (where there are also pictures and
history about NYWG drill team). Or you can contact me for
assistance, training help, videos and study materials to get you
started.
